CSW Broadband Update

Sincere thanks for all of the survey replies last month, which has helped map individual houses to cabinets to exchanges and create a much more granular picture of the potential demand versus coverage.

To save you squinting at the map, we are still Orange which means April 15 to commence roll-out and we should achieve Superfast broadband >25mb download connection which is great. This time next year those of us who want it should be enjoying substantially faster online entertainment. (now zooms down to individual houses, but still a bit painful to use).

The latest rolling 12-month plan has now been updated on the website, showing an additional 77 cabinets being brought into the rollout. Earlswood, Tanworth and Forshaw Heath do not feature in this rolling 12 month plan as yet – it only goes to January 2015 ! So much for 12 months..

As previously, one of the main problems we face is that the data we are given is detailed by postcode, and the maps are generated showing postcode data. However, telecoms infrastructure clearly does not follow postcodes. In fact, as the surveys progress we are finding that we have some postcodes that are served by a number of cabinets, and some cabinets that serve properties in more than one postcode. When you factor in the fact that some properties may be served by exchanges or cabinets that are several miles away you can see the difficulties. Therefore the information on this map is indicative only and actual coverage will change when we come to rollout to each area.

Thanks for your continued interest and support and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask me.

Kind Regards
